Biden accuses Facebook

He commented on companies like Facebook: "The only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated." Social networks are frustrating the president because they accuse them of slowing the pace of vaccination, making the fight against the pandemic itself and severe restrictions worse.

The big problem is that vaccination has almost stopped in Republican centres in the South and Midwest, where society is still sceptical of Democratic party policies. After these statements, Facebook shares fell by about 0.4%.

Scientists and doctors also have a problem with the social network. U.S. surgical general Vivek Murthy accuses social media companies of taking insufficient steps to stop vaccination-related misinformation. Hoaxes and misinformation are spreading uncontrollably on social networks, and vaccination lies are slowing down the fight against the pandemic. The response from company leaders did not take long. FB's vice president for integrity defended the social network: "The Biden government has decided to blame several US social media companies. The fact is that vaccine acceptance among Facebook users in the US has increased." The CEO of Facebook wrote that "Facebook is not the reason why this goal has not been met," he said, adding to Biden's unfulfilled goal of vaccinating 70% of the US population.
