COVID vaccine producers are focusing on booster shot

Pfizer Inc and Moderna Inc executives stated they estimated the majority of individuals who wished to get vaccinated against COVID have already done so - more than 5 billion people worldwide. Most COVID immunizations in the future year will be booster doses or initial inoculations for youngsters, which are still receiving regulatory approval throughout the world, they added. Even if overall demand drops, Pfizer, which is partnering with Germany's BioNTech SE, and Moderna envision a significant role for themselves in the vaccination business.

Novavax Inc and CureVac NV, a German company cooperating with GlaxoSmithKline, are also developing vaccinations aimed for the booster market. AstraZeneca Plc and Johnson & Johnson, whose injections have been less popular or effective, are anticipated to lose market share in this market.

It is unknown, for now, that how many booster doses will be required, as only a subset of population is recommended to get it.
